Brief and to the point, I was born July 30th, 1955, in the state of Florida. My Dad was in radio management and, such, we moved around quite a bit. In fact, people used to think that we were in the military, as many times that we relocated. My Mom was my musical inspiration and mentor. Teaching me the ukulele at an early age, I received my first acoustic guitar for my 13th birthday; and I haven't left it alone since.
I went into the military (U.S. Air Force) straight out of high school, staying in just under four years. It was during this time period that I met a life-long friend, who, unknowingly, became the guiding influence of my musical direction. I owe him so much (thank you Charles.... H's & K's).
After a short home stay following the ending of my tour, I moved out west to Colorado, where I worked in the ski industry for a few years. During the summer months of these years, I worked various jobs in Montana (Yeah!), Wyoming and here in Colorado.
Between then and now, well, many directional changes in my life have occurred. I got married, having brought four awesome and incredible human beings into this world as a result. Life makes its' presence known to us each and every moment of our lives and, as such, this marriage union was not to be. We remain steadfast in our dedication to our children and have become friends.
During my lifes' sojourn, I have been blessed with and have had the honor of meeting many wonderful people. Some of whom have had a direct impact in and on my life and the others, well, they have left their impressions, both memorable and, for their part, thought-provoking.
As with everyone in this world, I, too, have suffered the loss of friends and family, the type of which, specifically, they say, no parent should experience. In the very early hours of Monday, December 22nd, 2003, less than two months before his 20th birthday, my oldest, my son, Tyler Jeffery Glicken, was killed in a head-on automobile accident. This traumatic and profound event changed the course, the direction, of my life in ways that I am still discovering and trying to discern.
For one, the most important, it opened up the pathway and dialogue and enabled me to reconnect with my Higher Power, my Friend... God. It has also given me the insight, empathy, compassion and understanding, placing me in the position of providing an ear, a shoulder and the heart to anyone who might and will go through the same ordeal.
Everything happens for a reason, and this has led me to here- where I can now provide a musical insight for those approaching the many doors and opportunities that Life can and does continue to provide to each and everyone of us, each and every moment of each and every day.
I enjoy being able to share my story, my life, within a musical format that, I hope and pray, everyone can understand, equate and identify with, in some small and influential way.
May you be Blessed!
